AD Plant – Widnes
This development involved the construction of a new anaerobic digestion plant on land adjacent the existing PDM (Saria) production facility. The plant comprised Weighbridge, Offices & Changing, Control Facilities, De-packaging Plant, Pump Rooms, Production & Gas Storage
The plants uses innovative systems to de-package the food waste and separate all material for recycling to ensure that none goes to landfill. The food waste is then recycled to generate renewable energy and power. In addition to this, it is also used to produce DynAgro; a high quality organic based fertiliser rich in nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphate and potash.
The plant uses recycle biodegradable waste streams from adjacent food factories and supply process heat back; completing a classic ‘closed-loop’ recycling service.
The project generates over 5 MWH of Renewable energy per year and is capable of processing of 90,000 tonnes of waste each year
